The Nodaway County Paramedic Program will cover all emergency medical concepts and techniques currently considered to be within the responsibilities of the paramedic (EMT-P) providing emergency care in a pre-hospital setting as set forth by the Unit of Emergency Medical Services of the State of Missouri. This program meets or exceeds course requirements established by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Missouri Unit of Emergency Medical Services. The education program will also cover topics related to the future trends and care methodologies in emergency medicine.

Course Length: First day of class September 5, 2023

• 2 days per week, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (16 months)

  • Specialized training sessions may be held on selected weekends or other times (to be announced)
• 500 hours of Clinical Rotation experience outside of class (may require more hours depending on clinical site location)

● Fees/Tuition: $8500.00 includes: textbooks, FISDAP adaptive testing fees, lab equipment, shirt, and insurance, ACLS, PALS, and CPR. This does not include National Registry Paramedic Exams, Drug Screen, and Background Check.

● A non-refundable application fee of $100 is due at the time of the application. Fees and tuition can be paid by check, money order, or credit card.

● A monthly payment plan can be established.

o Terms of Payment:

o $100 due with application

o $1200 due on the first day of class

o Min of $450 per month payment until completely paid with a zero balance 45 days prior to taking the License Exam. At which your completion certification will be completed and sent in to allow you to take the national registry exam.

This course provides the necessary education and clinical rotation to prepare students for the NREMT - P certification process. Paramedics need to be able to provide advanced pre-hospital emergency medical care under medical control's authority to patients needing BLS care for illness, as well as critical patients who may be injured or in life treating emergencies.  The paramedic student will be transporting patients by ambulance. The paramedic student will assume the role as lead patient provider and will manage the patient during care, as well as management throughout the process on scene/during transport. The paramedic might perform other medical services under medical direction orders outside the hospital environment. To fulfill the role of the paramedic, an individual must be able to:

• Recognize a medical emergency, assessment of scene/ situation, manage emergency medical care, coordinated efforts with those agencies or resources that may be involved in the care and transportation of the patient to appropriate facility .

• Prioritize emergency treatments for medical and trauma patients,   

• Documentation and communicate pertinent data to the designated facility as well as PCR.

• Initiate and continue emergency medical care under medical control, including the recognition of presenting or changing conditions, initiation of appropriate treatments, and reassessment of the responses in care, modifying medical therapy as directed per medical control.

• Direct and coordinate the transport of the patient by selecting the best available method(s) in conjunction with medical control authority if directed.

Nodawy County Ambulane District Paramedic Program holds a Letter of Review, which is NOT a CAAHEP accreditation status, but is a status granted by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP) signifying that a program seeking initial accreditation has demonstrated sufficient compliance with the accreditation Standards through the Letter of Review Self Study Report (LSSR) and other documentation. However, it is NOT a guarantee of eventual accreditation.

The Emergency Medical Technician course prepares the EMT student to provide pre-hospital assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include an introduction to emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of EMTs, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, special considerations for working in the pre-hospital setting, and providing patient transportation.

The course will consist of approximately 150 hours of didactic and skills instructions.  Clinical sessions will include 8 hours In-Hospital and 5 Ambulance patient contacts by the completion of the course.  Each student is required to complete both ambulance and hospital clinical rotations in order to successfully complete this course.  Students are expected to be prompt for clinical rotations and to follow the policies and procedures at each clinical site.

● Fees/Tuition: $1500.00 includes: textbooks, CPR. This does include National Registry EMT Exams, Drug Screen, and Background Check.

● A non-refundable application fee of $100 is due at the time of the application. Fees and tuition can be paid by check, money order, or credit card.

● A monthly payment plan can be established.

o Terms of Payment:

o $100 due with application

o $250 due on the first day of class

o Min of $300 per month payment until completely paid with a zero balance 30 days prior to taking the License Exam. At which your completion certification will be completed and sent in to allow you to take the national registry exam.

• High School Diploma or GED

• To prepare EMTs who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession.
• Knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation of information relevant to their role as a certified/licensed EMT.
• In the laboratory, clinical and field environments the ability to perform individual and groups for motor skills in a safe, timely and efficient manner.  The graduate will be able to adapt skills to the demands of the workplace in a way that accomplishes appropriate patient care.
• Personal behavior and attitude consistent with employer expectations and professional standards as set forth in the roles and responsibilities section of the National D.O.T. Curriculum.  Integrity, empathy, self-motivation, appearance and personal hygiene, self-confidence, communications, time management, teamwork and diplomacy, respect, patient advocacy and careful delivery of care are the fundamental values needed for success in the program and EMS professions.
